Minor Injuries
We had some minor injuries earlier this week.
I was in Millie's room and Hayden comes in wimpering and says "Don't be mad at me mom". I'm thinking surely he's broken something, so I ask, "what happened?"
"I have a lego stuck in my nose." How, why, what?? He puts his finger up in his nose and isn't touching it yet. Oh, great.
"Blow" I said. He tries and immediately starts crying harder... panicking actually. Well of course I always remain calm...ha, ha...and wonder how far up there this lego is. I'm nearly sure at this point that we'll end up in the ER. I kept telling him I not mad at him and it's OK.
I have a very sweet neighbor who is a pediatric nurse at Ball Hospital, so we head over there asap.
I knock on the door.
"Jody, we have a lego stuck in the nose".
She was very gracious and got tweezers and Hayden laid on the floor, very scared, crying and asking me to be really close to him. It was way up there and really hurting him. Jody used the tweezers and got the lego piece out. She said if it had been up there any further we probably would have had to head to the ER. Thank the Lord she got it.
Hayden didn't even want me to tell Mark, so someday I'll have to confess this post. But, it is a memory I just had to record.

THEN, Millie gets a majorly stubbed toe...dripping blood and all. She always says, "It's blooding mom" when she's bleeding.
This is her on the couch afterward and all bandaged up. It really was a bad one and she was pretty tough, but all in all thankfully both were minor injuries...

Hayden's First Day
Hayden's first day of kindergarten was today. He chose to have pancakes for breakfast and was certainly feeling a bit sluggish at 7:00 when he got up this morning.
He headed off to school, Mark drove him and I picked him up. It's fun to see him enjoying this phase of life and looking forward to the things Conner has shared about school.
He made a book today that said his favorite color is red, favorite thing to eat is PB&J, and that he loves to fish.
I pray he grows in character and continues to enjoy learning. It really seems like yesterday I was taking Conner for his first day.

Hayden and Mrs. Amstutz on the first day of school.

I tried our first day of our homeschool schedule (not actually too much school, just our morning routine). Oh boy, this will be an adjustment. I'm trying to get Millie used to room time in the morning. This morning she was out in 5 minutes for the first time. Conner was in tears at one point about Math. We'll keep at it and pray for smooth sailing ahead.

My Catch Up Post
You think I'd be anal about my this post basically being a catch-all from the last week or so, but I'm over it. I'll feel caught up a bit and ready to capture the next bloggable (is that a word?) moment. So here we go...
We headed to the golf shop last week. The kids love playing putt-putt, hitting off the driving range, riding bikes around the place. It's a great place to spend an afternoon with friends.

I'm not sure how much help Mark thought they were, but the kids were joining in the 'van wash'. Millie wanted to put more soap on the already rinsed parts of the van and Hayden was on bug duty, trying to wash the bugs off the bumper (gross).
This past Sunday was our last small group for the summer schedule (code for many kids running around while the adults try to catch up and have a conversation). The kids had fun playing kickball and roasting marshmallows for smores. I really enjoying sharing life with our small group families.

Silly Millie
For lunch today I made PB&J with baby carrots and watermelon. After a bit I heard Millie begin singing 'Happy Birthday to you' with a big smile. I look down and see she has put her carrot sticks in her sandwich like candles. She was so pleased with herself. Doesn't the Lord make 2 year olds so darn cute for a reason?
I need to remember these moments when she is telling me, 'but I don't want to obey' or 'NO!'.
This morning she was playing in the garage and said, almost to herself, 'the clouds are beautiful today'.
So sweet...we really do delight in our little girl.

The Museum with Dad
Monday Mark took off work and we headed to the Indianapolis Children's museum. It's one of my kids favorite places...they talk about it, look forward to going and enjoy every minute.
The boys really enjoyed sharing this experience with Mark.

Peering up into the blown glass exhibit.
Millie really wanted to ride a horse that went up high. I decided to let her on her third trip even though you're supposed to be 3 to ride the moving horses. Well, we were busted and the carousel lady asked Millie how old she was-she said 2 of course and we had to move horses. I felt pretty stupid. Mark asked me if I was trying to get us kicked out of the museum.

We had a great day together at the museum. Can't wait to go back!
