My Mom got a book from a friend at work that talks about mailing your passy to the new babies who need one. We decided that Sunday, February 8th would be the day (Mark stuck the calendar in front of Millie and said pick a day).
So, we boxed up the two passies we had left and put them in the mailbox. I told her that the babies would probably mail her a thank you gift. The world's fastest mail exchange took place and about 15 minutes later, Millie's gift was there.
She got a new stuffed tiger to sleep with instead of her passy. She named him hello kitty. We're still working on creative naming. At first she called him bicycle...?? She also got a puzzle and candy.
Since then, she has asked about her passy. It really makes me sad to hear her ask for it...she's had it every night for nearly three years. She hasn't napped since we took it away. Of course, two days later she gets sick and has wanted it even more. When she woke up in the middle of the night asking for it, I really wanted to give it to her...but how would I explain that the next day? Plus, I know it would only be worse to take it away next time.
Millie...you're growing up...this is one of the growing pains...we love you.

this is so sad. i think hello kitty is a hilarious name for a tiger! not quite as funny as bicycle, though. we are STILL working with jack on not sucking his thumb. we can't just ship it off to kids who need thumbs.
I actually got teary reading your post, like the way you do watching Little House on the Prairie. That really is sad. It's just too bad they have to grow up.
great post. we really do need to check into having our blogs printed!!
